Celebrating Diwali

11月12日是印度的排灯节。我和我的印度家人一起庆祝了排灯节。

November 12th was Diwali, the festival of lights in India. I celebrated Diwali with my Indian family.

我很喜欢排灯节这个节日。人们会点油灯和蜡烛来庆祝。

这些美丽的灯火让我觉得很有节日的氛围。我们也在我家门口挂上了彩色的灯。

我很惊讶的发现印度的排灯节和中国的新年有一些相似的地方。

I really like the festival of Diwali. People light oil lamps and candles to celebrate.

The beautiful lights create a festive atmosphere. We also hung colorful lights at the entrance of my house.

I was surprised to find some similarities between Diwali in India and the Chinese New Year.

第一个是放鞭炮和烟花。排灯节晚上我和家人一起点了手持烟花。我很开心看到闪亮的花火，特别好看。

周围也有一些印度的邻居可以听到他们在放烟火的声音。

中国的除夕夜，我们也放鞭炮和烟火来庆祝。

The first similarity is fireworks and firecrackers. On Diwali night, my family and I lit handheld fireworks. I was happy to see the sparkling fireworks; they were so beautiful.

We could also hear the sounds of fireworks from some Indian neighbors.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, we also set off firecrackers and fireworks to celebrate.

第二个是颜色。在中国，红色是喜庆的颜色。过年大家都爱穿红色。

我的印度家人告诉我在印度红色也是吉祥的颜色。今年的排灯节我们也穿上了红色的衣服。

The second similarity is the color red. In China, red is a festive color, and people love to wear red during the New Year.

My Indian family told me that red is also an auspicious color in India. For this year’s Diwali, we also wear red clothes.

排灯节的晚饭我们点了外卖。我们点了好吃的印度菜。

我还拿出了我最喜欢的饮料 - Canada Dry. 这是一个姜汁饮料。它名字里有Canada,让我格外喜欢😄 因为我现在住在加拿大。我们一边吃饭，一边听音乐聊天。

For Diwali dinner, we ordered delivery food and enjoyed delicious Indian food.

I also took out my favorite drink - Canada Dry, a ginger ale. I especially like it because it has "Canada" in its name, as I currently live in Canada. We chatted and listened to music while having our meal.

排灯节的第二天，我们还收到了一个惊喜。有一对邻居夫妇来我家给我们送了一盘点心，来祝我们排灯节快乐。这些点心都是他们自己做的。你看，连摆盘都这么好看。我们尝了这些点心，特别好吃。

On the second day of Diwali, we received a surprise. A couple from the neighborhood came to our house and brought a plate of homemade sweets to wish us a happy Diwali. The sweets were beautifully arranged, as you can see. We tasted them, and they were super delicious.
